Geisinger gives teens a taste of med school
SCRANTON (WOLF-TV) —
The Geisinger trauma team helped teens explore the medical field.
They got a chance to ask questions of trauma doctors and perform assessments themselves.
They used mannequins as accident victims and stitched up wounds.
Many of the teens are volunteers at area hospitals.
"I'm a hard worker, but I can see that that pays off. I see a lot of people care about heir jobs and what they do, and they're really thankful for helping people. And it kind of just gives me validation that what I'm doing right now at such a young age and the stress I'm putting myself through is actually going to pay off," student Amanda Houser said.
Anyone interested can call the Geisinger Community Medical Center volunteer office.
