Fine Arts Fiesta wraps up in Wilkes-Barre
WILKES-BARRE (WOLF) -- Cloudy skies didn’t put a damper on the last day of the Fine Arts Fiesta in Downtown Wilkes-Barre.
The fiesta got its start back in 1956 and is an annual celebration of the arts in the Wyoming Valley.
It features art shows for students and adults, live performances by area school groups and professional acts, an artist market, and several food vendors.
“I think what’s nice is – we had such a severe winter and everyone’s hungry to get outdoors and socialize and be with people, so I think that’s important. Of course there’s always the standing joke that its going to rain this weekend because its fiesta, and we’ve had some nice – we’ve actually had four days sometimes in a row where we didn’t have the rain, so what can you do? Its an outdoor event, we try to the do the best we can,” Susan Najaka, a Fine Arts Fiesta board member, said.
This year, the festival featured more than 300 pieces of artwork.
