Crosscutters tickets go on sale, stadium renovations continue
WOLF-TV (Williamsport, Lycoming County) --In just under fifty days, bulldozers will be replaced by baseball as the Wiliamsport Crosscutters open their season with complete stadium renovations on Tuesday, June 20th. So what will be new this year at Historic Bowman Field?
"Everything!" said Crosscutters V.P. of Marketing Gabe Sinicropi. "We have four million dollars of renovations going on here at BB&T Ballpark, the second-oldest minor league stadium in the country. It will be transforming this 92-year-old ballpark into a much more modern and convenient facility."
According to Sinicropi, one of the biggest game changers at the park this year will be the one-million dollar "Lager's Landing" deck/patio, which will seat up to 150 fans, and have full-service food and beverage areas.
Monday was the first day for ticket sales, and baseball fans trickled in steadily throughout the day.
New this season, those purchasing tickets online will be able to select their exact seat location, delighting fans like Tom McCue of Williamsport.
"That's a really nice adjustment they made, it used to be that tickets were all pre-printed and you had to buy them pre-done, and now you can print them out as you go."
Sylvia Miller of Montoursville stopped in to grab some tickets for Opening Night, saying that attending games at BB&T Ballpark is one of her favorite pastimes.
"We have a whole bunch of us that sit together, and we just have a good time and root the boys on, and hug them as they come by. It's just a fun thing...a family thing."
