Buy-and-bust operation nets Pa. county employee
WILKES-BARRE (WOLF) -- A Luzerne County employee is out on bail after police say they caught her during an undercover drug buy on Tuesday.
Police say Leona Miller, 38, Trucksville, drove a drug dealer to that buy, which was set up near the Philly Subs in the Miners Mills section.
Police say they saw suspected cocaine on top of her purse and she told them she got it in return for giving the ride.
County manager Dave Pedri says Miller is on leave without pay as a clerk-stenographer in the public defender's office, where she's worked for more than 15 years.
Pedri says a disciplinary hearing is pending and the public defender's office is not representing her in her case.
Her bail was set at $25,000, which was changed to unsecured on Wednesday afternoon at a bail hearing, according to online records.
